I focused this tour on all-things-MIT at Art Basel Miami Beach, highlighting work by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer at Galeria OMR, Otto Piene, co-founder of Group Zero, at the Sperone Westwater gallery, MIT alumna Jennifer Allora in collaboration with Guillermo Calzadilla at the Gladstone Gallery and elsewhere, and many others. (Here’s an interview with Allora and Calzadilla in BOMB magazine.) Lozano-Hemmer will be featured in 5000 Moving Parts, the MIT Museum’s fall 2013 exhibition that I’m curating. Piene retired from MIT as Director of the Center for Advanced Visual Studies, where I was privileged to be one of his students.
